How to Use this Discussion Forum...

SoundWood Links gathers people around the timbers used in musical instrument making and then gives support to the woodlands where these extraordinary materials grow. It is for instrument makers and timber suppliers, players and sellers of musical instruments, conservationists and teachers, forest managers and trade regulators, academics and anyone who has an interest in wood making music.
This section concerns the aims of this project. What scope and purpose do you think SoundWood Links might have?

Access. This is not a public website. Only registered users may get past the first page. It is still in the process of being built. If you have access to anything other than the first page, you are using a registered user's username and password and your contribution will help the continuing design of the site.

Structure. This website is a collection of 'Forums' for discussion. Each Forum gathers 'Topics' which are 'threads' of conversation, to which registered users may 'reply'. If a Forum has other subjects or sub-forums within it, they appear towards the top of the page. If any Forum has topics for discussion, they appear below any sub-forums.

Navigation. At the top of each page is a sequence of headings in dark green, separated by left-facing arrows, which shows you where you are within the site. Click on any one to go to that area. On any page, clicking on a heading takes you deeper into that subject.
Towards the bottom of each page is a drop down menu which allows to to 'jump to' any of the forums within the site.
The back and forward buttons on your browser will also move you around the pages you have already visited.

Creating new topics for discussion and replying to existing discussions If you are looking at a Forum you may 'post a new topic' for discussion. If you are looking at a topic, you may 'post a reply'. If you have a suggestion for new Forums or Sub-forums, or any other comment about the site please feel free to post a topic about it in an appropriate Forum.

Frequently Asked Questions. For the full Help on using this site, find the little dark green 'FAQ' button and help bubble at the top, right of each page. These are the instructions provided by the clever folk who made this software, which is called phpBB.
